    GROWING YOUR OWN.........
it's only a simple thing but we have just had homegrown strawberry pavlova with our tea.

beautiful strawberries (only 15 of them) picked in the p***ing rain, organic egg whites for the meringue

just sliced the strawbs on top of the meringue and cream

they were just so sweet it's what growing and harvesting is all about

    eating your own just priceless...........
this will be a battle from the heart

    Well done you!!

I have been watching my raspberries growing and thinking that a pavlova was the way to go when the first lot get picked - you have confirmed that is the best idea!

PS - is it better to use really fresh or not so fresh eggs for the meringue?

Merigue is one thing for which ultra-fresh eggs should not be a problem. Separating may be a bit more demanding, but those nice new egg-whites are stronger for holding all the air you need to make a meringue work REALLY well.

How on earth do you manage to get strawberries home?

I picked some y'day but ate them all on the pavement waiting for Mr Sheds to pick me up

We had our first strawberry yesterday, divvied up into 4! It was delish.
(we also had home grown beetroot, carrots and onions with our roast - just showing off a little!)
But yes you're right Phil, it is priceless!
