Don't know if they're exactly one inch, but old 35mm film containers should make good, small plant pots, though you'll have to make a drain hole in them with a nail heated over a gas flame, or an electric soldering iron or something similar.

Obviously film is not so common now everyone (apart from myself, it would seem) has gone digital, but try asking at your local photo shop. They usually have a boxfull under the counter and are glad to get rid of them

        These are 6cm...

I've seen smaller ones in large garden centres.
I was thinking of getting some to put on the tops of canes.
I've known peeps write the names of herbs etc on them as markers too

They make fabulous pincushions, if spray painted. Cut out a saucer-sized piece of pretty fabric, run a thread around the egde and pull it up like a drawstring and stuff with wadding. Pull the thread up tightly and finish it off so it won't come undone. Pop this 'ball' into the flower pot to stick your pins in. You may need to glue it into the pot.

If you need them just for growing rather than anything else a cell-tray would work just as well and certainly be cheaper.

I've had a few 5cm pots, and I hate them ... they dry out so quickly

I agree with Bluemoon, modules/cell trays would do the same job, better?

Much too small for growing in, I would use cell trays instead
