  • Tulips and Squirrells

Hello all, I'm well aware that Tufty is partial to digging up Tulip bulbs, but is he likely to dig them up once they start poking through the surface? If so can anything be done?

    Thanks

They can be a pest, however I find covering the bulbs with a fine mesh when you plant them keeps them in the ground.

Thanks they are currently covered with a kind of mini greenhouse (very mini), but this can't stay so am wondering if and when these can be removed or if tulips bulbs are always on Tufty's menu with or without a shoot/flower.

I once watched grey squirrels chewing through the tulip shoots and taking them away in a park in Boston, Mass. Sheer devilry I reckon.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Del boy would say they are little gits, I'd use a word that ends the same!

So nothing that will actually stop them then?

Bl***y squirrels dug up a lot of my bulbs, chased him off but he kept coming back, then I caught him chewing the tips off of my newly sprouting tulips the other day.
              Drastic action called for.
Borrowed the grandsons pressured water pistol, filled it up with some cold water from the fridge and waited for him to come.(he comes at the same times each day.

When he came I jumped out and 'shot' him twice with the water pistol, he went off like the clappers.
              haven't seen him since! :-)
