| ive made some wooden boxes for some flowers to go with my veg namely pot marigold and poached egg plants. does anyone have advice on growing these flowers and any other flowers to attract insect etc |

| Any of the Simple flowers are pretty good (single flowers not Double) then the insects can get at the pollen. Things like Cosmos, Nicotiana. I usually grow Tagetes rather than Marigolds as they tend to have loads of smaller flowers on.

| I'm with you on tagetes NTG, I love the smell, it makes me feel all summery! I always make space on the lottie for a couple of rows of Nigella. It's ridiculously easy to grow, great for butterflies and bees and then the seed pods are great for finches too, they even look quite nice left in place over winter if you make a late summer sowing. And if you fancy an unusual Nigella, Sarah Raven has got 4 different sorts in her seed catalogue and SBP put a post on here on Friday with a 20% off discount. |
