  • Warning about repotting container grown vines etc.

Last year I bought a Boskoop Glory vine, after wanting one for ages. I just repotted it into a bigger container, and thought I should pass on a lesson learned. The vine had a frame of sturdy bamboo trellis (3 posts with cross bars), and it just would not come out of the plastic pot. I wrestled and booted and cajoled to no avail. Then i finally spotted it had some tiny, but very long staples, through the pot and into the bamboo. No wonder it was so sturdy! After levering them out, the poor battered vine came free straight away, and I felt very guilty for cursing it.

I find the use of staples in plant pots rather worrying. Twice now I have ripped my hand wide open on a staple when planting out a plant. I have seriously considered suing the Garden Centre for the damage. I certainly would if I did more than cut my hand.
