Default sickly blackberries

Hi all,

Just joined, had an allotment now for a couple of years and am loving it but I have a slight problem with two blackberries planted last year on cleared ground.

They are thornless (so the little 'uns can pick them) and both have one strong cane with what looks like buds running the length. These have opened (about 2 to 2 and a half months ago) and look like small firework explosions and havent done anything since. I'm just wondering if they have a disease? or something else. I cant seem to find anything via google except for something called double blossom? which seems to fit by way of description but cant find any photos to match it against my own.

I know the description is vague I will try and get a photo to upload when Im next at the plot but in the meantime any advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance

I can't help without a picture. Did the affected shoots grow from the ground this year? This year's growth don't produce flowers so you should be able to work out if your explosions are likely to be flowers or not.

Hi Capsid

Ill get a photo tomorrow when Im up there but the growth is this years, the plants were planted as single 'canes' if you like last autumn. So if theyre not flowers Im guessing theyre leaves but they havent moved or grown in 2 - 3 months or so.

I'll get a photo and post tomorrow and thanks.....
