Default Wiggly wrigglers worms!

Well what a surprise I was in for when I sent my COW voucher to wriggly wrigglers for my worms! I was sent 500g of the lil' fellas and boy the bag was heavy and litterally stuffed with worms- mostly babies (but I don't mind!) I was shocked!

I bought a wormcity wormery off ebay in February that was supposed to come with 250g of worms. To be honest, the 250g included bedding which I felt a tad miffed about, but I had no idea at the time. Looking back I was robbed! LOL!

So if any was thinking about getting their worms- you won't be dissapointed. They are really fab!

Default We luv worms.

Good luck with your wormery.

In this months GYO magazine Wiggly Wigglers are doing several offers on page 69. including £10 off a wormery kit.

I quite fancy one but all my kitchen waste gos into my 3 compost bins.

I would be interested in how much green waste you need to put in regulary to keep all those worms going.

Wiggly Wigglers have a great Blog and even better podcasts if you have a MP3.

Yes they do breed, but these things take time. I want as many as I can get, to get a good start, more worms=more vermicompost.

Thanks Seasprout, my kids are really excited about our worms- they even get to live in the house LOL! I really recommend the COW to anyone thinking about getting a wormery or composting. I tried bokashi but it just isn't as fun- and it smells funny.

What do you mean by green waste? My guys get 50% veggies, 25% fruit and 25% cardboard/newspaper. They seem happy enough

Thanks for the tip about the blog- now off to google it

Ours used to as well, until we got rats!

We feed ours all sorts, don't you think you have enough for worms? Would highly recommend C-O-W and wiggly wigglers - we still have our 'first' worms!

Oooh Youtube! I love it!

Yea c'mon Seasprout- you have got to get one!! They love any forgotten veggies at the bottom of your fridge, then theres the banana skins and apple cores. They'll even eat toilet rolls (the brown bit) and loads of paper.

Goat socks!!! I love looking through their Catty for all the 'different' stuff.

They eat woolly jumpers too!

We won our COW which was supplied by Wiggly Wigglers and they're still going strong. We love them - a low maintenance pet (oops sorry - source of compost!)

Default Worms.

If you are on facebook you could also join their discussion forum, ask questions directly to them, i have.. and been rewarded with £5 off the goat socks, hence my order yesterday.

I don't work for them btw, but am very impressed with the company and their ethos.
I admit they are a little pricey though.

Might ask for a wormery for my Birthday in August, OH has said no to me keeping bees.

What on earth are socks for a goat?

You can get cheaper C-O-W via your local Council (well some of them), try the recycle website.

I always suffer from Zombie Feet = always cold. These are brilliant apparently.

Quote from site..

Heather has fallen in love with these gorgeous Mohair socks and is slowly converting the rest of the Wiggly Office. They're made right here in Herefordshire using hair from a flock of pedigree Angora goats that live near Longtown on the slopes of the Black Mountains.
70 percent Mohair for warmth and comfort, blended with 30 percent nylon. Wash at 40 C, the instructions say do not Tumble Dry in bold text, but Heather has tried it, and they lived to tell the tale!

They call their goat Heather?

Good news about the C-O-W, they're very easy to use.

What on earth is a C-O-W ???
sorry, maybe a bit heavy but ... C...O...Wormery...don't know

by the way, what bedding do you use for your worm, and do you cover the food with a new layer of bedding every time you feed them?
and do you wait until they finish before reserving?

sorry
have many more questions in stock but I will wait next time

I ordered mine through a link with the Council and got it for £60 complete with worms! I've had it going just over a week now.

I wonder how long it takes untill the first tray will be ready?

COW = Can of worms. Its a specific named product rather than a generic wormery.

Okay Maria, heres what I do.

When you first set up you get a coir block, then you need to leave them for a week or so without feeding them (worm treat is okay). Then you give them handfuls of waste every couple of days and watch how much they are eating, adding more or less accordingly. In my wormcity I have layered the coir then food on top, then a layer of damp shredded newspaper. Instead of the newspaper I have a moisture mat in the Can o'worms. They will eat the coir, newspaper and moisture mat eventually.

I think it would take atleast 4-6 months for the first tray to be ready. Remember that it takes a while to get into full production, after that it should get quicker.

Eventually!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mine ate the moisture mat within a month and I've neer bothered replacing it as I want them to eat my waste. Sames goes for worm treat, don't see the point, mine seem to find mashed potato as a treat and that keeps them happy!!!!!
