Default Allotments in Helston, Cornwall

Just on the off chance that another 5 residents stumble in to this site looking for allotments in Helston, Cornwall.

Please let me know and maybe we can get the Parish Council to provide some under the 6 residents request it ruling.

There are at present no allotments at all in Helston

Hello
I am looking for an allotment in Helston!
Have you heard of Weeth Alottments? There is a National Trust sign on a locked gate off the Penrose walk saying 'Weeth Allotments no public access' but I have had no joy trying to find out any more.

The national trust do look after these allotments. Sadly there are none available at the mo and there is a long waiting list, even tho some look unused and a little overgrown. It seems people hold on to them even if they are not using them regularly. I asked for my name and contact number to be given to those on the waiting list with a view to approaching the council with 5 people who want allotments but have heard zip.

hi marny,
I have 1.5 acres 5 miles ish from Helston. I run my own business so it's sitting idle at the moment and we have decided to offer it up for plots. Completely private location and private water available.

Default Allotments

I love the idea of having an allotment I am a complete novice but do not have the space at home.

Have tried looking so far the nearest to Helston is Leedstown I was travelling through the other day and saw a notice up for allotments. Although there is also an advert in the local paper someone who has greenhouses and allotment plots in return for doing there gardening.....keep thinking about ringing but think I might end up spending all my time doing there garden and not get onto the allotment.

Lavender Ladies - did you make a decision over turning your land in to allotments? I'm still trying to decide if I have time to cope with one but might be interested

Default Is there six of us now?

Think there maybe six people on here interested in allotments in Helston. What is the next step in approaching the Parish Council?

Does anyone know?

I guess one of us needs to write to them telling them there are six residents interested and see what they say - though going by this thread I can only identify 5 of us?

okay - if we get a sixth then I don't mind having a go at contacting the powers to be. I guess we just need everyone's name and address and let them now we would like allotments.

Come in number 6 :-)

Great that's six of us then so if you all send me a PM with your real names and where in Helston you live (just the street will do) I don't mind writing to the Council and asking them what they are going to do for us.

Hello every body

I live in Helston and have just started to grow my own veg.

Although due to work commitments at the moment (I am in the RN) I can not commit myself to having a plot of my own right now, I am very interested to know more about your plans. Are you trying to get individual plots or one large communal plot for a small group?

Griff

Hi Griff

We're trying to get what ever we can really. There are no Council Allotments in Helston at all and we've been led to believe that if we can put together a request from at least 6 residents the Council have to try and find us some where. I would imagine that if we are successful it will be one large piece of ground they will then divide in to plots.

I'm still waiting for the others to send me their Identities and then I'll have a crack at the Council
