  • Tomorrow i go to my first allotment AGM.

Tomorrow i go to my first allotment AGM(never been to an AGM in my life) and although i have sat through too many boring non essential management meetings i am quite nervous. I try not to get too included in allotment politics.

At the moment there is some antagonism between a few members so i am expecting something along the lines of Vicar Of Dibley crossed with a Ricky Hatton Fight.
Better get there early for a ringside seat .
Isn`t it a shame that sometimes people can try to damage the simple(ish) idea of dig, plant, reap and enjoy.
But hey thats politics i suppose.
    Wish me luck, Minty

    Good luck Minty.

Make sure you spy out where the fire door's are when you go in, in case a punch up starts.

Also take a big tin of Toffees for every body, you will make lots of friend and glue up all their dentures in one swoop.

Good luck! I'd be tempted to go in waving the Red Flag and blathering on about The Diggers, The Levellers and The Tolpuddle Martyrs... but that's probably a good way to find yourself face down in the cabbage patch first thing in the morning!
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom

I've come to take you home."

OK so in true Rebecca riot style i shall don a dress and demand a reduction in rents and if no joy i shall take advantage of the fact that most allotment owners will be at th AGM aswell, slip away and Luddite their best tools in the shed. ANARCHY RULES !!!!!!.
Or i could just enjoy the free tea and Hob Nobs .

We usually have ours in May.

The old codgers have got together and sorted everything out before the day so we all just stand around in the secretaries allotment and nod our heads at the appropriate moment.

The lucky few have the leek trench edge to sit on, the rest just stand.

I was tending my plot on the day when one of the oldies came up and sez " We're having the AGM now up at Jimmies plot" OK sez I!

Went up for five minutes, couldn't hear a thing, no written minutes or anything, no voting of officials, just taken as read.!

"Let's have your rent,........ oh, forgot to mention it's went up a fiver this year" And that was that 'Bobs your uncle'

                Good luck Minty!
