oh dear the dreaded S&S!!!

i have made my own vey inexpensive beer traps and gave the recipe to another grape who is thrilled with the results, as i am too, they are worth a go and in my mind they die happy!!

For anyone who cares, this is what i did:

large pot dug flush into the ground (i used a choco flake tub from tesco)

then i got an empty ice cream tub and cut out holes in the sides, then filled the other pot with beer and placed the ice cream tub over with a large stone on the top, voila!!

I have caught loads and loads and i am using cheap Aldi beer, one a week is doing it as I am using Wheat beer and very strong smelling.

Hope this helps.

Wyvale do a good protection granule called slug stoppa that is safe for children, pets and wildlife and can be used in the organic garden. There is also nemaslug that you water in every six weeks or so that produces nematodes, a parasite that eat the growing slugs and snails underground before they emerge, but this can be expensive.
