Nearly a week has passed since I planted my chill seeds and I have noticed some white fury stuff forming on the compost, I have my seeds in trays and tubs which are covered with air holes in them, they are also sitting in the airing cupboard. Is there anything I can do?

It sounds to me that they are too damp, but I'm no expert so hopefully someone with greater knowledge will be along soon. Have you tried starting your seeds off on damp kitchen roll - once, they've germinated you can then pot them up or whatever the proper term is!!

So damping off is bad right? Cos Ive got mould on some of my stuff in the greenhouse. I dont always get enough air in there.

well i think so, on days when you can. I get it a lot too, especially in propogators, so i do try to open the greenhouse for a bit if it's not too cold, not that it is heated mind youOriginally posted by FionaH View Post

Mould is caused by over-watering and insufficient airflow.
You don't need to buy Cheshunt Compound ~ just don't over-water in future, and get some air to your seeds. They shouldn't be steamy.
