Hi all
I put horse muck on me beds at the end of last season and covered with weed suppressant material, when i uncovered it the other day i found loads of mushrooms growing, is this because i left it covered and will it be alright to grow anything ???

I'm sure it will be ok.

You'd be surprised where mushroom spores get and it's not unusual for them to pop up in warm, dark and damp places.

You could give it a dig around, but I think that once the air gets to the soil they will quickly die. Leave it open for a few days, then try replacing your current sheeting with a clear piece of plastic, that might help.

If you've got 'shrooms growing in your beds it must be a good environment for them. If that was me, I'd buy some mushroom spores, mix them with some of the equipoo and put it in a growing box, spread an inch of compost on top and leave it for a few weeks. Then eat the mushrooms.
