Compost blocks / 23.01.08

Dropped by allotment to find watering not necessary in GH as all seeds very moist still. It has been cool and wet but it does warm up in there - or so I thought.
Nicely surprised to find some seeds germinated viz rocket , spr broccoli and Little Gem lettuce and one spinach. Aside I have some antirrhinum at home and they have a few little seeds up too.
No action on other brassicas like Igloo cauli , broadbeans or sweet peas.
Harvested some sprouting broccoli which for the first time were longer stems. Usually I pick them short to avoid the heads flowering but maybe this weather suits them or leaving longer has advantage after all. The leaves are showing signs of large brown spots that look like could be trouble and leaf spot due to fungal attack. Maneageable so far I feel.
Pulled sprouting broccoli that have been in since Summer last but were sprouting but flowering almost straight away. Checked roots which seemed clubroot free. Hooray!
The weather should be quite good over weekend so if soil dries a bit hopes are to try tiller on soil for first time next week. Will be fun to inaugurate my Chrissie present - I hope.
