Fresh > The Bulldog Forge Garden Wins Gold At Chelsea 2011

main image

The ‘Bulldog Forge Garden’ has won a Gold medal at Chelsea this year. Mary Payne MBE and Jon Wheatley designed our first ever Chelsea garden, which was awarded the prestigious Gold medal. Our garden set in the 1940s tells the story of a self-sufficient blacksmith making his own tools and growing his own vegetables and flowers, in an era that saw hundreds of similar small enterprises all over the UK.

The Garden was opened by Rosie Boycott. A writer and broadcaster who has been appointed by the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, to launch the Capital Growth Scheme (http://www.capitalgrowth.org), the campaign to support 2012 new community food-growing spaces by the end of 2012.
Mary Payne MBE said ‘I’m delighted that we have won a gold medal for our exhibit, which has been the perfect partnership between Bulldog Tools (http://www.bulldogtools.co.uk), the Stonebarn Team (.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)) and Suttons Seeds (http://www.suttons.co.uk). It is a culmination of seven months planning and hard work.’

Stuart Elsom, Managing Director Bulldog Tools Ltd, comments, ‘The Opportunity to show how Bulldog Tools heritage has such a good connection with horticulture was one that we felt we should embrace. We were delighted with the results that Mary, Jon and their team produced, a Gold medal that will be treasured by the staff at Bulldog Tools.
