I make my own Fat Balls from suet, chopped nuts, desiccated coconut (all from supermarket), and bird seed (Poundshop).

Melt suet in microwave, add nuts & stuff, pour into a plastic mould (eg. Xmas Pud bowl) with a string in the middle (to hang from tree) and freeze. Freezing allows you to get the fat ball out of the mould.

J. Parkers the bulb people have now started selling bird food, it's very reasonably priced & you usually get a free gift of plants or bulbs when you order from them. Here's a link.

There's quite a few places you can get it from try a wholesale seed merchant they'll be cheapest but you may have to order 3 or 4 bags but believ me it wont last long. I get thru 25KG every 10 days or so and that's just the sunflower hearts.

As to fat balls try these links

If you make your own fat balls use suet as opposed to lard, as some recipes say, - lard makes an awful mess as it is not quite solid at room temp - I know!!

I might just try the Gardman stuff then, the price difference is quite big.
