  • What on earth has layed an egg in my long grass??

I was strimming this afternoon when i came across a white egg about the size of a small chickens egg hidden in the grass!
It is perfectly formed and not broken or cracked. It was right in the grass so it hadnt fallen from anywhere.
I wondered if anyone had any idea as to what could of laid it or where it could of come from???

Yes, it looks like a wood pigeon egg!! That would make sense as we get loads of them in our garden, I often catch them just sitting in the grass. Never thought they would lay an egg there though!

Am slightly relieved as when I originally googled white egg in long grass it was coming up with grass snake eggs! Not that that would be a bad thing I just visions of my son coming in with a snake in his hands!!

Yes, I'd far rather a wood pidgeon to a snake!

Pheasents and partridge do that too. Just sort of lay a random egg here and there, which is always a little shocking when you find them. Espcially when it's in your garden and you're running barefoot to catch a frisbee. Got the slip of a lifetime and I can remember thinking 'What on earth was that' as I flew t**s over a*** through the air.
