He must have fallen out of our loft (we deffo have bats living in roofspace).

He was lying flat on his back and looking VERY dead when I came downstairs on Sunday morning. I almost stood on him

It was when I went to give him a decent burial (probably the bin) that I noticed a slight movement of the head. I got him warmed up, fed some boiled water on a cotton bud, then some goats milk after I got to supermarket. [Thanks to folks at Bat Conservation Trust for advice]

He has been improving ever since but I do have realistic expectations of the chances of a successful release. I might be feeding every 2 or 3 hours until August

No - rank beginner - but always enjoyed seeing them. ANything which eats midges is a big friend of mine

BTW - if you use Skype (Skype official website - download Skype free now for free calls and internet calls), I may be able to arrange a viewing time for you to watch him getting fed on webcam. Bear in mind, I'm still very pleased to see him alive anytime I open the tub though

Just PM me your Skype name if interested

I am also trying to record from webcam to post a video in my Gallery - the file is currently much too large though

When it's weaned you can feed it mealworms. We've kept bats until they were grown or injuries had healed. Son is a licensed bat handler.

Sounds easier than catching midges for it

He`s cute. I like bats we have 2 or 3 every evening flying around our back garden.

There's a lady in north Yorkshire who looks after bats and takes them into local schools - she keeps the babies in her bra. Constant temperature - it's good for them.

Flummery, please can you ask your son a question for me....

Mr HF has put up a bat box for me, only thing is, its about a foot away from sat dish
Will this 'bounce' their echo location?
It's the only place to put box and I am desperate to have bats in a box
Bells in a belfry might also affect the bats, there are plenty of bats in the belfry here (this is getting daft now) but seriously.....

will they find my new bat box?

Hi everyone,
I've just had a Skype webcam session with WG and seen young master "Robin" being fed. Fantastically cute. Could hear him chattering too as was being stroked with a cotton bud. Awwwwwe

I really REALLY want to get some bat boxes up now. We've got bats living in the massive trees opposite so they are local already. And whilst may take a couple of years to eventually populate the batbox, sooner it's up the better. We even identified the perfect spot last year when both myself and Mrs P17B were discussing it.

I'd recommend everyone to watch young sir being fed. And many thanks for WG's time too. Much appreciated! :-)

Thanks mate, it is a pleasure to share feeding time (which is happening about every 3 hours at the moment). I do hope to manage a video capture from webcam so that folks can watch at their leisure. And so that I can keep for posterity

Haven't seen our bats this year. We too get a few flying round the back garden. Mange tout, we haven't really been sat out in the garden much of an evening - too cold.

Doing a grand job there wg, well done.

Robin is very cute, how did you come up with the name?
