  • Keyhole Garden

    Hi everyone,

Here is a great little thing called a Keyhole garden, which is a type of kitchen garden which recycles as it grows. The design - which looks like a keyhole from above - incorporates a central 'basket' where compostable waste is placed and water is poured.

I work at Send A Cow and we have been helping farmers in Africa and encouraging people to make their own Keyhole gardens or maybe get your kids involves and make a Keyhole garden together this Easter weekend.

You can find more information on Keyhole gardens here.

We are trying this with the village children's group this year. Last year we did Bag Gardens - another idea from you!

I found out about keyhole gardens last year, they struck me as a work of genius ! If ever I am cursed with poor stoney soil...
There's no point reading history if you don't use the lessons it teaches.

Glad to see you're trying it out with the kids Flummery. Good Luck, I'm sure they'll love it.

They did, and the parents were intrigued by the bag gardens too. I'm sure the keyhole garden will be as popular. It stood us in good stead for Yorkshire in Bloom too. They are very keen on community involvement and ecology. Double whammy with your ideas!

Glad to see the ideas went down so well guys, the key hole gardens are great. We've been doing lots of work with them in Africa here at Send a Cow, so it's great to see people trying them out over here.

Good luck with them. Let me know how you all get on!
