 Bees and snapdragons Just spent ages watching the bees on my snapdragons it was fascinating. The bee lands on the bottom lip of the flower, and its weight causes the flower to open so that the bee can crawl in. When it's finished it backs out , teh flower re-opens and the bee flies off. Flower closes .. It never ceases to amaze me how clever nature is!       |

| Fascinating indeed. My younger son (12) adores snapdragons as he loved watching the bees on them when he was tiny. They are about the only flowers he can recognise though - and he knows how to open them by gently squeezing the 'jaws' too. |

| I love to see 'my girls' come into the hive absolutely covered in pollen, little fluffy yellow balls of mischief! Some bee keepers collect the pollen in 'pollen traps' Pollen is as vital to the bees as nectar, They store small amounts of it in the hive. In each grain of pollen there can be up to 5 million pollen spores!!!! WOW!! |
