Default Rhubarb

I was told years ago to put a bit of rhubarb stem down the hole when planting greens. to stop root flea. has anyone else heard of this?

I've used rhubarb leaves (successfully) to counteract clubroot but I don't think they would help against cabbage root fly? A known defense against cabbage root fly is to use collars or wrap the stems with silver paper!
