  • Manganese Deficency

It looks like my Calabrese is showing signs of manganese deficency, can anyone advice what to use to cure this, I'm a newbie to GYO so don't have a clue what to use to solve this problem.
    Thanks in advance

Make up some Epsom Salts & spray the foliage with it

Are they in pots! If so it may be time for potting on...

No scarlet they are outside in my raised planter, it's only a couple of them seem to be affected at the moment.

I thought Epsom salts was for magnesium deficiency? Or does it help with both?

Give them a feed with seaweed solution. That contains nearly all the minerals most plants need. So if you are mistaken and it's a different deficiency, you've got it covered anyway.

I agree with Mothhawk And I also think BB has his manganese and magnesium mixes up somewhat .

A wee bit about Manganese deficiency here Manganese deficiency (plant) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia . Note there is no mention of brassicas being prone.

Manganese deficiency tends to occur in alkaline soil, so you might want to measure soil pH. One of the cures is adding compost and manure, so I'd say build a composting toilet, as that is good for everything.

I use a mix of six scoops of compost three scoops of sand/grit and two scoops of perlite, the quantity is unimportant as long as the ratio is the same, if for seeds I use this mix, if I am potting on I add some blood, fish and bone, along with a small quantity of chicken manure pellets
