You can buy humane mole traps from any farming suppliers.
You place them in one of their runs and cover with soil, checking everyday (preferably twice-am and pm) and you can then release them miles away.
They have a little window so you can peep inside without having to disturb it.
You need to wear gloves when handling the traps as they can apparently be put off by human scent.
A mole run can cover a vast area so a few may be a good idea, but I don't think they are particularly cheap.
I have never caught one so far, but our neighbours have.
There are no doubt killer traps, but I've not looked into those ( yet!! )

About 20 years ago, my dad jumped up from the dinner table and ran outside. We watched as he spent the next 10 minutes hovering over a mole hill on the lawn, garden fork in hand, poised like an Inuit harpoonist.
The bastard got him in the end - my dad, the mole, that is.

On Gardeners Question Time a few weeks ago, I think Bob Flowerdew reckoned that vibration was the best deterrent, if you're not gonna trap / catch / kill 'em. Stick a vibrator down the hole, or get the lawn mower out ; )

Moles work three times a day 7 o clock, 11 o clock and 4 o clock in the afternoon so around these times place yourself will a spade and wait till you see the molehill move and pan it then scoop the beast out of the ground

Poor little gentleman in black velvet! I realise it is probably really aggravating if he's ruining your bowling green, but he doesn't know it's your pride and joy.

Mole hills are supercompost, ready turned and free to gather. Moles tend to avoid cultivated ground, anyway, so vibration, noise and regular use are the best way to deter them. I don't believe in poisoning any animals (even the neighbourhood cats only get squirted with water or have apples thrown at them, and they are the bane of my life)

Oh no, we're not going to turn this into the 'Jaspers sat on a rotating stool with shotgun and flashlight' thread again are we?
