Is it just me or is anyone else experiencing a plague of blue/green bottle flies in their gardens?
I have noticed a significant rise in their numbers over the last three spring/summers.

I put it down to our local council (bless them) changing to fortnightly bin emptying . Our neighbors do not seem to be as bothered, however they are not "gardeny" and have very little other than lawn; is it foliage that attracts them?

Any ideas on getting rid of the blighters would be gratefully excepted!!

Nothing inherently wrong with fortnightly bin collections: it's people who throw everything in the bin loose that is the problem - no bin liners or bin liners not tied up. Our neighbour chucks everything (food waste, dirty cans etc) in his black bin, doesn't bother with the recycling one. His bin is disgusting, filthy and it stinks.
