Default "Animal Away" deterrant

Hi,
We are getting a lot of rabbit damage on our allotments and it seems impossible to "rabbit proof" the perimeter.
I have seen a newish gadget called "Animal Away" which is a battery operated ultrasonic device at my local garden shop.It is meant to deter all animals -rabbits, rats ,cats, dogs even deer. Anybody had any experience with these?

A local radio station has 'phone-ins on various consumer topics. One of the topics is 'pest control.' The guest is a professional pest controller. When asked about them he said he never used them, and when asked how effective they were, he replied 'it depends how accurate you are when you throw them at them'.

Personally, I've not heard a good report of them.

Sorry,

valmarg

Hi
We used one for a mole; and the only thing we could guarantee is that it would make a dead straight bee line for the sonic scarer every time we put new batteries in - sorry.

We got a sonic scarer to stop the neighbours cat from doing his business on our front drive.

Came back one day and found the biggest whoopsie right infront of it ! Didn't know if he was just taunting me or perhaps deaf!

I was thinking of trying up on the lottie to try and stop the herd of badgers from digging up my meagre crops - played havoc with my onions last year! Nothing ventured nothing gained I suppose - now I've got it I just need new batteries

Welcome to the Vine Dublin Gardener. I've had several versions of these sonic scarers. They did nothing for me. I wouldn't spend another penny on them.

Save your pennies - these sonic scarers do not work - they don't work for moles, mice, rats or anything else for that matter. Rentokill and local council pest control officers will all tell you the same.
