  • I'm too hot!!

Thermometer is registering 26 degrees in the shade. Unheard of for Lowestoft. I'm too hot and the guineagirls are too hot!! I have the curtains closed, the windows and doors open. I'm on the coast so lord knows what it's like inland.

Too hot, with loads of thunderbugs and pollen beetles if you step outside!

It's mental hot here; we have the big fan on downstairs and can't have the window open as we have a bird that keeps trying to come indoors.....no idea why - too hot for it perhaps?

Just been round the house and reversed the process as the sun has moved round. Front curtains now closed, back ones open to let in what breeze there is - all doors and windows still open.

Down here on S Coast we had very high temps yesterday.

Could 'almost' say I'm 'cold' today as there is a very thick sea mist which has thanfully cooled things down. Common feature followng v.hot days.

Yes, we usually get a fog too, but not yet this year. Went to the beach yesterday and you could see the fog bank on the horizon but it didn't come onshore.

Rustylady I've just put a thermometer on the table in my back garden - fairly shaded by my line full of sheets - 36 degrees. Cat and I are looking at each other in bewilderment.

Lord Jeanie, how are you coping?? I'm wandering round the house barefoot and keep going to stand in the kitchen (I've got ceramic floor tiles and they are lovely and cool).

It's a lot cooler indoors Rustylady - same thermometer is reading 28 in here - I'm still dripping though. Ah, well - it may see my summer cold off!
I have just sprayed round the flower bed a bit in the shady area to cool the air off and I think cat has dived in there now.
Think I need to make a tray of ice for later on!

I heard someone on Sky News saying if it is cooler in the house than outside to close your windows.

I just naturally open all of ours if it's warm.

I really couldn't cope with the windows shut. I've shaded the ones that are in the sun by closing the curtains, and I've got the front and back doors propped open so I've got a bit of a wind tunnel. Coolest place is the kitchen.

What does Sky News know about keeping cool! Best thing to do is close the curtains and open the windows. The slightest breeze aids in staying cool.

As does running your wrists under cold water, or dipping them in a bowl of cold water. Plus splashing your face and neck, then sitting in what breeze there is till you've dried off.

Here too. I've tolerated them all week: today they were too much, horrible itchy little things, in your hair, down your clothes, ack ack. The heat isn't so bad, but I hate the flies & bugs that come with it.

Our house is north facing, so not too hot. The south facing curtains have been wetted with water, which makes for a lovely cool breeze coming through.

We have to shut all the darn windows every time we leave the house though, in case of burglars.
