Why are my aubergines different colours ?

They could be listadia aubergines, they are stripey

Thanks, I've just googled to see what they look like but annoyingly can't find any images. I've seen some pictures of purple stripey ones but these are definitely pretty green with just a hint of purple. Whereas the other plant has normal looking purple aubergines as do my friend's two plants.

Just been out to my greenhouse and the last of my purple ones are greenish with purple bits, so maybe its just a case of them needing to ripen? Not sure if they will now or not

Thank you so much for doing that, you're very kind. So I guess mine just haven't seen enough sun/been hot enough, just weird how different the one plant is and my friends too.

If the weather today is anything to go by, they aren't going to see a lot of sun !

Aubergines come in various shapes, colours and sizes. There are a few varieties of purple and white stripy ones some with greeny tinges to them. Just be glad you have some fruits of any shape or size as I am still waiting.

I am extremely grateful to have fruit as I thought for ages I was going to have beautifully healthy plants with pretty flowers but nothing else, but they did finally sort themselves out, hope you do get some Goji.

It's just weird that the plants from one packet have produced such different looking fruits, I wasn't expecting that but I guess that is the joy of gardening, you never quite know what nature will throw at you !

I am growing Ophelia baby aubergines. Most of them are the usual colour - and very nice to eat - but some are a rather nasty brown colour though the flesh inside looks the same. We have not eaten, or even tasted, any yet and I was wondering if they are okay. Does anyone know? Don't want to poison the family.

I don't have this problem as my 6 plants have only managed to grow 1 aubergine between them! Next year the space is being given over to extra chilli plants!

I discovered only a couple of days ago, my Caliope have finally set fruit - anyone know how long they take to mature? And can you over winter the bladdy things cause it would be nice to not have to grow the darned things from scratch again next year????

i have had a good crop of nice deep purple ones but in the last few weeks they are just not the colour they should be they are now a sort of green/browny/purple,ish colour.any ideas on whats happened

I've got 3 plants and 6 aubergines - first time ever i've managed to grow any. Mine are all slightly different shades of purple and green, i am going to eat them all just the same though
