can I plant garlic where my onions have been this year or are they in the same family?

Need to read up on crop rotation I think but my gardens only small so I'm a bit limited - am thinking of going for an allotment........

Garlic is part of the same family as onion, so not a good idea to put them there - I think you are safe now with root crops.

thanks, I thought that might be the case. I've used my potato space to plant out my leeks, so will have to put the garlic where the courgettes are (that should be ok shouldn't it?)
Whats good to follow onions - any suggestions? It would be good to use the space.

If you've only got a small space it won't make a great deal of difference as you can't really get far enough away. Ideally you should plant somewhere else but sometimes you can't do anything else.
