Cut it off now, with as much stalk as you possibly can

Yep, if its turned orange and sounds hollow when you knock it, it's ready. Most of mine are harvested, only 6 left in the garden plus the Giants.

If its still a bit green, don't worry, leave it in the sun and it'll go completely orange soon.

Mine are staying out till the end of the month, when all the foliage should've died back (at the moment the vines are lush and green and still throwing out new feelers)

My leafs are going brown around the edges, I was planning on leaving them out until they'd died off too...

The Lincilnshire pumpkin man was on the telly and he tries to harvest his pumpkins by the end of September each year (all 5 million). However I think that is down to commercial reasons and they should be OK till at least the end of the month. However I would keep an eye on the possibility of frosts.

I'm going to bring my one pumpkin in this week then. It is meant to be an atlantic giant, but its more the size of a football! It is still yellow however - what should I do with it? It is growing in someone else's garden so I'll have to harvest it and bring it back to my house, should I leave it out in the sun for a while? Will I need to put something soft down for it (as there is no grass at mine to rest it on)
