  • When to pick potimarron squash?

I tried potimarron squash for the first time this year
Great plant - goes for miles!
But - sadly- only one fruit so far has made it, and the leading edge seems to have run out of puff...
The squash is around 9" in diameter - maybe a bit more - and a lovely orange colour

Question - when should I be picking it?
    thanks!!

When it's a lovely orange colour The oranger it is, the more mature it is.
I think that's probably all you are going to get this year, 2 of mine have grown 2 and 4 each, with no new fruit coming and 1 of mine has grown 2 fruit, with 2 more small ones coming on, which may or may not have time to mature enough to make it worth picking them.

They love lots of muck, on top of a compost heap, or on top of a massive pile of manure they will love.

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.

thanks womble!! It was really exciting as it grew (and grew, and grew) - but most little squashes rotted, even when I tried hand-pollinating...
      Will try harder next year
      cheers
