  • when can i put my peas out in the garden

    hi

when do you think i could put my pea's out in the garden, they are growing really tall in the greenhouse and i have put toilet rolls around them to keep them up, they really could do with going outside, is it to risky, i have planted a few already outside but they have not come through yet.

They should be fine outside now, but don't forget to acclimatise them first - in at night and out in the day for about 10 days before you plant them.

I planted my first batch out last week. I was running out of space so something had to go out, everything okay so far.

Don't forget to harden them off. In at night and out during the day for about a week.

Same here. This is the first year ever that I've run out of plant pots. Everything has had to be indoors because of the horrible long cold spring

It's only this week that the sun's deigned to arrive

Mine went out about a week ago but they are protected from the wind with polycarbonate sheeting.

mine Kelvedon wonder i think!? went out last week, I sprouted them on Kitchen roll on the kitchen windowsill, as soon as they were big enough put them in compost and moved to the conservatory, a couple more weeks then it was pot on again and out to the greenhouse, now some are in planters and some are in position in what used to be the flower border.
I find those stages of gradually getting them colder overnight normally means I don't need to harden things off the traditional way...touch wood!

My first outdoor row went out last weekend and have stood up well to the horrible winds of last week. The second row and a row of mange tout will be going out next weekend.

I have some plants in the stayput as a back up for the ones I sowed in the ground. Glad I did too, because so far the sown ones haven't put in an appearance. It is only 3 weeks ago, so I'm hoping they show this week.
