Why did you feed them? They grow so quickly they don't need it.

Some seed packets will say when it is ok to eat, mine say when heads are firm but if its with reguards to the miracle grow, then i havent a clue, should say on the bottle. Hx

Would read the instructions on the bottle as to when its safe to eat anything that has been watered with it. Must admit tend to use a more 'friendlier' product - plan to put some tender nettles (in a bag) then hang it into the water butt. Did the same last year - it stinks but the veg came on a treat last year. Hopefully we'll be as lucky this year.

Thanks for all of your replies, god knows why I watered them as they are going rapidly- maybe I was daydreaming as you do when watering lol.

Was watching Big Dig a while back and the guy on the Welsh Allotment watered his pumpkins (I think) with a liquid with rotting leaves in it. It stank but the idea was to deter the Cabbage White Butterfly. Does your stinky nettle juice do the same trick?
