Default What's up with my aubergines?

They are called Long purple...... so I assumed they would be long and purple. They are growing long in shape but as they grow they are loosing their colour.
Any ideas what's causing this? The first pic is the little one and the second when they're older. Looking really washed out colour wise.

Dunno - but I've got the same variety but only in the flower bud stage. I don't know what colour to expect them to be - the longer one is still purple isn't it?

Anyone else growing this?

Colour looks something like this but not as dark as the Fothergills catalogue.

They look fine too me. I'd have thought the bigger one is ready to eat? Maybe just some colour variation, not all purple aubs are a deep colour, some are paler than others. Looks from the yellow leaves like it could do with a feed?

Here's a picture of a 'long purple shaped' aubergine from last year - ping tung long (not really happy even in a big pot)

Also thai long green aubergine (for comparison)
