I used a galvanised cold water tank for herbs.Sometimes you just have to scratch that itch and get dirt under your finger nails.Comment

I have used amunition boxes that I got from my ex-father in law. OH had to drill holes in the bottom, but they worked OK!If the river hasn't reached the top of your step, DON'T PANIC!Comment

My Husband's old steel-toe Rigger Boots! Filled them with stones and compost, and bunged a Cranesbill Geranium in each one, and stood them in the sun, beside the back door steps!
The split one dried out too much, and the plant died - the other one grew beautifully.
