Oh yes- no probs at all. Just wash off any slime!...and scrape off the surface of the hole....you'll have no idea the little blighters have already had a nibble

I always find it useful to plant at least a couple of varieties- as the weather is different every year and consequently one variety may do better than another the following year.
Don't chuck any - that variety may do better in a drought situation for example

I use a mix of six scoops of compost three scoops of sand/grit and two scoops of perlite,the quantity is unimportant as long as the ratio is the same, if for seeds I use this mix, if I am potting on I add some blood, fish and bone, along with a small quantity of chicken manure pellets
