What is wrong.

My onion sets are growing in pots in my greenhouse for the past eight or nine weeks.
They re doing really well with nice healthy looking leaves but when I felt around to check if the soil was damp enough some of the bulbs are soft.
No sign of mildew or onion rot and they are not too wet. Any ideas please.?

The bulbs will soften as they use up the reserves to grow new leaves, which is what you want at the moment. Don't worry they should fatten up when they should.
