| Now is a good time to plant fruit trees, bushes like blackcurrants & gooseberries, and cane fruit like raspberries and blackberries. You can buy them bare-rooted (dormant) at this time of year, which often works out cheaper than ones grown in containers. The ground they're to be planted in needs to be well weeded, reasonable drainage and with some good compost or rotted manure mixed into the planting hole. I'm in the middle of preparing the ground for my raspberry bed - I only took over my lotti in Feb so this is my first fruit planting, I'm embarrassingly excited ![]()
