It's a good idea to keep making successional sowings of small amounts of things so you have a constant supply of seedlings to plant out as space becomes available. I currently have cabbage, red cabbage, cauliflower, lettuce and calabrese growing in cells/small pots which will go out to fill any gaps. I'll also be sowing more carrots, turnips and beetroot over the next few weeks and possibly a last lot of peas if I can find room for them.

First thing that comes to mind is leeks and winter greens. A late sowing, last week in June, of runner beans and peas will keep them going till the first frost.

During the last week of August i sow 'Arctic king' and 'all the year round' lettuce in modules they then go in my greenhouse beds once the toms come out, that way I've got lettuce all winter.

Think I'll do a late sowing of French bean this year as well.

I can only grow radishes if I sow them in October, so I'll be filling any gaps with them

In pots growing on to fill gaps I have Kale, PSB, cabbages and dwarf french beans. As space comes up I'll sow direct lettuce, radishes, carrots, turnips, spring onions, peas, mange tout and beetroot - which should all come in before frosts. Also about to make some more pot sowings of PSB (late ones) and calabrese.

July/August will module sow spring cabbages to plant out sept, some peas/beans/lettuce/winter greens for greenhouse too. Also start my winter herbs around then - as the day length starts to shorten. Stops them all bolting.

I have a load of winter brassicas already in 3" pots ready to plant out pretty soon and will be sowing spring cabbages in August as well as overwintering onions, broad beans, peas and various other bits and bobs before the end of the season. Had a very good crop of calabrese in the polytunnel in about March this year from some spare plants that never found a home outside although they wouldn't have survived the winter without protection.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
