  • What have I done to my cauliflowers :(

I was given 10 plants in June. I planted them, spaced then, weeded around them & for some reason every one has blown, the heads have just not formed. They look as if they've gone to seed. One has completely rotted. I could understand one or two but all ten of them

I love to know what I've done wrong so I don't repeat it. Over watered, under watered? covered them with netting etc

Mine have done similar. For mine they got too dry when I was on my holidays, so they panicked and went over.

Do you have pics? It could be under watering like WC says but it could be other things or a combination especially the rotting.

PS. I just don't have enough time to say hello to everyone as they join so please take this as a delighted to see you here!

Caulis like all brassicas need to be very well firmed in when planted otherwise they will blow prematurely. How did you plant yours?

Mine did the same, they are in a raised bed. Look very pretty though.
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it.
If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

I put in 6 plants also, thinking this might be a good idea, but mine did the same! Never mind, they are now in the compost bin, and we are having little, mini ones tonight, unless they look too manky once cooked!

Have never been successful with cauli!
