yeh green manure is a crop which you grow and then dig back into the soil to give it essential nutrients. More info here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/gardening/basic...enmanure.shtml

I'm in the same situation and like the sound of leek plants. We planted our seeds very late and they haven't germinated anyway (most things were planted late as it was taking so long to clear the weeds from our new allotment). Any tips on where to find leek plants this time of year - had a look at a few online retailers but no joy yet... Thanks, Michelle

The best place I know for green manure is Edwin Tuckers. They have a big selection and the prices start at £1.30 up to £1.80. Some packets cover up to 50 square metres some 20 square metres. www.edwintucker.com
