  • Try different lettuce varieties?

Last year i tried two new (to me) varieties of lettuce; 'Yugoslavian Red' and 'Iceberg' - not the supermarket stuff, but the 'orginal' crisp type. Both were well worth growing for their colour and flavour in a salad. Anybody else had success with different or unusual lettuce varieties?

I like Romaine lettuces and found a variety called Valmaine which is a cut and come again type or you can leave to heart up. Great for only 2 people as we use what we need and no more. We also like Rocket, spinach picked young and the mixed salad leaves that give a variety of shapes, colours and tastes. Red and black kale picked young as well.

This year I'm trying Four Seasons a butterhead type that can be grown all year.
