Too late for cabbages?

Try getting your hands on some Sherwood or Tundra cabbage seeds - you'll probably be looking at late autumn - winter but you should still manage to get some cabbage this year (maybe January next year).

I would say it's probably a bit too late for the butternuts.

I had the same problem with my butternuts. As the weather has been poor the plants that did survive has not actually grown that much so I planted some seeds in pots in the greenhouse last week and will leave them in there and see if they catch up.

Worst comes to worst I've waste a few seeds but i thought it's worth a try.

I would go for spring cabbage Hero. Sow it very close together say 6" apart, harvest every other one as spring greens (that will start about Nov). Let the others come on and as they grow again harvest every other one.

Last years sowing kept me in lovely cabbage from early Nov through till late March.

thats what i grew in the grow barn 2 years ago,i only picked the odd leaf from several plants,the problem this year is not just the weather,but the pest's as well,i have very,very reluctantly put slug pellets down this week,the things live on in abundance,so no need for me to feed them instead of us lol,

I will try those types suggested. Think some nematode action is needed as well though
