Too cold for tomatoes in greenhouse?

They should be okay in the greenhouse now, but keep some fleece or polythene handy to chuck over them if the weather is forecast to dip below 5c overnight.

I have had my tomatoes in the greenhouse for about 3 weeks now. Never bother with covering them with a fleece and they seem to be alright. Of course if you are due some really cold weather then don't listen to me, get them covered

In fact I have some outdoor varieties in the greenhouse that will be going outside in growbags this weekend.

I'm in N Staffs: any more north and Cheshire :-). You may need heating on cold nights. Seen -1C recently.

Or fleece.

Harden them off in the greenhouse by day and back in at night for a week. Then transplant. Mine have been in the greenhouse for weeks too, but I hardened them off first.

Mine have just gone in this week. Much later than usual but thats mostly cos I delayed planting them cos of the gruesome weather.

Still not bought my Tom plants yet!! weather still damp cold no warmth at all, so will give it a few more days yet, and take a chance there will be a few plants about for sale

I'm a bit north of you and mine have been in the greenhouse a couple of weeks now. Also have some basket ones in their final baskets in the polytunnel. Temps in the greenhouse have been fine overnight so don't worry too much but do keep an eye on any late frosts.

Mine have been in the greenhouse 2 weeks now and are doing fine.
Its been a bit cool a few nights, but they are in toughs off the ground and have a fair amount of compost (~5inches deep).

Had mine in the greenhouse for two weeks as well - they are going great guns! This year I have tried a couple of grafted plants as well as the normal sort and they look really strong. Both sorts have the first truss of flowers.

My Gardeners Delight have been outside on the patio for over a week and in the garage overnight, Looking great and the trusses are forming now :-)

The others are a bit ahead of me this year, mine went in last week, (last year they were in in early April!!!). When I hardened mine off in the greenhouse they sat on my potting bench rather than on the floor where it is naturally colder at night.

They all seem to be doing fine at the moment, kid gloves toby, it won't hurt if they are another week hardening off before putting them in the ground. They'll only poody if you put them in before they are ready.
