Tomato(???) Tamina

Mmmm not grown potatos

The leaves are sort of spear shaped (for all those who have seen Zulu) whereas my other tomato plants have sort of rounded certain illegal herb sort of shape.

On the left we have a pepper, two middle ones are toms and the one on the right is the Tom Tamina.

The only difference between the pepper and Tamina is that the Tamina has the hairy stem of a tomato

I bought that cheapo packet of seeds too, and my seedlings are doing really well. Anyone who has grown them before - how tall will the plants get and what is the fruit like? I hope they're tasty!

They will be similar, as they are all members of the Solanum family!

Some tomato plants are potato leafed varieties, after all, they are first cousins.

there will be no difference in the flavour.

Grew Tamina last year and tried them outdoors as I ran out of room in the greenhouse. They grew very well and were starting to show some good fruit when they were struck down with blight.

Yes mine gone blight as well. Harvested the tomatoes green though and made loads of jars of chutney.

mine look just like yours - i grew them last year but they died. I had a rubbish year with tomatoes last year.

I grew them last year, in the greenhouse. They are a reasonably tall cordon variety, they try to side shoot like crazy. We left a couple of side shoots on one plant and tied them onto the wires in a sort of fan shape and got a really good crop from it. The tomatoes themselves were a typical salad type tomato (very very similar to Shirley F1) with a pretty good flavour. I only had 3 Shirley seeds left for this year, and I've happily sown Tamina as well to make up the shortfall.

There are two types of leaves on tomatoes most these days are the split and straight kind and some are the old fashioned 'potatoe' leaved which are more rounded and look like potatoe plant leaves Tamina is a potatoe leaved variety.

I grew Tamina last year. I grew them outside and was very pleased with them until the blight struck, they seemed to go down with it very quickly and I lost most of the crop.
