  • Tomato Seed Question

I've got some seeds of Gardener's Delight and Brandywine - prepared as in the 'water method' of another thread. I've put them into small plastic containers with tops - my question is, is this OK, to keep them in plastic?

Other years I kept them in envelopes, but they tend to stick, I used to keep rattling them to keep them loose.

They really need to air dry - I'd pop them on a saucer and put them somewhere warm [my airing cupboard is full of drying seed this time of year, it's warm but not TOO warm], and then store.

If you want them in plastic containers with lids; you can pop a little silica gel sachet [use the ones that come in clothes, shoes etc] in with them to absorb any moisture.

They shouldn't stick as much after 'washing'...however plastic is fine. If you have any little silica packs so much the better...few grains of rice in there might help keep 'em bone dry at a push.

      seems to be an echo?

Definitely dry out very well first. I usually use small envelopes but they are to dry to stick by the time they go in there.

I've had some drying on the window ledge (north facing) for a couple of weeks now and they're fine to store now. Often store in little plastic bags but small envelopes can be better as they can't sweat in them.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Thanks everyone, for your suggestions - I've taken them out and am leaving them to dry for a bit longer.
