    tomato ID please (again I know...)

    Here is a lovely, nearly ripe tomato that has just fallen off its plant.

    I think it could be a brandywine but i am not sure as the rain has washed the writing off the label - any ideas?

      Did you sow the seeds yourself? More than one variety? If you give us a list of the varieties you sowed we may be able to accurately ID.

        Yes I sowed it, the choices are...

        Armish Paste
        Latah
        Blaby
        Brandywine
        Black Talula
        Galina (I know its defo not these because they are yellow and cherry sized)

        Its got a sort of dent in the bottom and potato type leaves if that is any help

          I thought the brandy wines were more pinkish.... could be wrong though as not an expert...

            Do you mean 'black from tula', could be it?

              I've just checked the packet and it says black talua - mind, it came from a seed swap so it could be anything! It does look quite like the black from tula, but the red bits are more dark pinkish. i will try and get a better picture of it outside if that will help.

              sizewise, its quite big - like half an eating apple.

                  Well like i said, i got it at a seed swap, hand written packet, so whoever brought it to the meeting probably got it wrong The more I look, the more I think it is a Black from Tula which is quite exciting.

                    Brandywine is red. Unless it's Pink Brandywine! I'd say it's a black, and if you've got 'talula' on the label I'd take folding money bets it's 'from tula' instead.

                      Well Flummery, the only Brandywine seeds I have are from you so unless they are pink brandywines, I think they are the from tulas. Taste pretty good what ever they are.

                      oh I have one brandywine plant that survived the bligt happily producing loads lovely tomatoes so thanks for that Flummery!

                        Mine are in the greenhouse and they are producing MASSIVE fruits - some over 1lb each in weight. They make fantastic sauces.
