    Tomato help

    Hi Everyone
    I am looking at getting back into my growing again this year and absolutely love tomatoes, I had real success in the past in my greenhouse, however i haven't had much success of recent growing them outdoors.
    I live in Lancashire, so not the hottest part of the country. I still don't own a greenhouse however I'm planning on getting a tomato poly growing house. Are these any good?
    Also, does anyone have any recommendations for a blight resistant tomato?

    Can't say anything about tomato growing houses but have a couple of tomato suggestions. Ferline is blight resistance and Arctic Sub Plenty was bred for cooler conditions. Both are largish tomatoes and possibly not the tastiest but any home grown is better than supermarket ones. Ferline is a cordon and Sub Arctic Plenty a bush type, I think!

      We grew Ferline last year and had no blight problems, although I think it was a low risk year. Tasted nice and got a reasonable crop.

        Both ferline and legend are blight resistant , not blight proof though. I grew both last year and had a good crop of large tomatoes, flavour was ok too. I grew mine outdoors though and had lots ripened late but then the weather was naff

            We grow Giulietta plum toms, Fantasio "normal" toms and Apero cherry toms. All have very good blight resistance - 2012 was bad for blight in my neck of the woods, but these toms only started showing signs of blight late in September. Seeds and plants available from Dobies of Devon.

              The bush varieties like Tumbler and Tumbling Tom grow happily outside up here in Cumbria so they should be OK in Chorley. Don't know about blight resistance as it's not a big problem here on the coast.

                Red Alert did very well for me when I grew outdoors. Some did get blight but I got a good crop first. Tumbler etc are good for pots and baskets but IMO not so good for in the borders, not sure how you're growing.

                  Not the tastiest ever, but I have grown Totem outside for last few years.Good crop and no blight...
                  I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

                    Hi Alison, im hoping to buy a tomato poly growing house, cheap and cheerful :-) I had a bad year with hanging baskets last year, the toms were really bad so I want to avoid baskets this year, I will probably just but the seeds, plant indoors then transfer into a tomato grow bag in the poly.

                      I have read that Ferline are quite resistant, i love cherry toms so if you know of a good blight resistant one of those id be grateful :-)
