Unfortuately I lost most of my tomato crop to blight this year but my question is to do with next year. I grew most of them in grow bags and containers, I have destroyed the effected plants but should I also discard the compost I grew them in or will it be OK to use next year? As a newbie and not being an expert on blight I'm not sure if the compost will harbour the disease and therefore strike again if I re-use the same soil! Thanks for your feedback.

We've had a few other posts on this topic. The consensus is that the blight spores don't survive in the soil, only on the plant material. The spores should be killed by a good frost, so leave the bags outside and you should be OK. -
My rule is fresh soil every year, blight or no blight. I use the spent compost and soil on the flower beds. I'd rather be safe than sorry.I you'st to have a handle on the world .. but it BROKE!!Comment
