    Is it time to start planting out

    This is my first year growing things, is it to cold to plant outside yet?

    I have a mix of tomatoes mainly italian plum and cherry tom's, Bell Peppers, Cucumbers and chillies.

    I have some growing in the house that are doing well and starting to flower but also I have a load in a small greenhouse that i have in the yard, they are doing ok aswell but no where near as big.

    Is it still to cold/rainy to start growing the bigger ones out in the open or should i wait untill the weather picks up a bit.

    The current temp is between 9-15c in the day and drops to around 4-8c at night.

    Hi Gazz and welcome. I won't ask about the 666 but you do seem to be growing stuff that needs heat

    It depends on the variety that you're growing as some do well outside. The weather has been awful so far this year so everyone will tell you to start hardening off the plants you want to grow outside.

      Glad it aint just me who thinks the weather sux atm, think i'll hold of for a few more weeks, that'll give me time to harden them.

        Hi Gazz welcome to the Vine.
        I still have my tom's under cover as the tem's drop to low at night, and dont get the warmth they
        need during the day!!! even when mr sunshine show's his face. So will keep things covered till
        the temp inproves.

          It's an exceptional year this year. I haven't been doing this very long, but I've not known it be this cold so late in the year before.

          I've never had much success with outdoor tomatoes - chillies etc I've only ever grown at home so I can whip them in if the nights start to cool down too much.

            Ive stuck a few of my bigger ones outside but ill bring em in at night, as for the chilli's and cucumbers I think its gunna be a case of coming up with some sort of an idea for an indoor trellis, they're in pots on windowsills' anyone got any ideas

              Yep, too cold
