I have had such a good first growing season,All our lettuce,cucumber,tomatoes spring onions,raddish,Big onions,potatoes( accidental)cabbage,apples and more from our garden!Thanks everyone for your input.Will try other veg next year.I have followed advice on hereand its payed off.anyone else benefited like me?

Me! Have had an amazing first growing season - some failures, some disappointing results but on the whole I'm totally impressed by how much we've managed to grow - and a lot of thanks go to what I've learned on this forum - not to mention the enthusiasm and encouragement of having this kind of community in the first place. So - thanks to all from me as well!!Warning: I have a dangerous tendency to act like I know what I'm talking about.

Same here. It's not just the good advice you get, it's the reminder that the seeds you put away should be got out and sown asap! I tend to the lazy side so having to keep up with everyone really gets me to concentrate!Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

All very, very true. I've been growing my own for a few years now, but I've only ever bought what I could find easily at the nearest garden centre. Next year's going to be very different! I've been taking careful note of Grape recommendations. So... next year different toms, french beans, squash and spuds......at the very least!Life is too short for drama & petty things!

yes, thanks from me as well.....this is my first year on the allotment, and i have found the forum invaluable - not only got all the info posted, but it also was the starting point for me meeting a fellow plot holder whos plot is 1 away from mine!.
i also recommended the forum to another plotholder today...the one between S's and mine!.Comment

Well Im in my first year of gardening and so far you guys have:
Stopped me killing my spring onions with kindness
Told me how to net the cabbages.
Given great info on starting the new compost bin.
Encouraged the shallots
And laughed with me when I cooked the pansies!
This is a nice community with none of the scatching and flaming seen on some other forums.
I for one am a grateful newbie gardener

I find it doesn't matter how much you know (or think you know), there is always something new to try or learn when i read the posts. Or there is some new tasty veg to try for next year. And if that isn't enough, then trying grape's recipes is always a treat. I just wanna say "keep it up guy's"
