    Tenderstem Broccoli

    Just trying to plan out my 35.5 Inches x 71 Inches (12 inches deep) Plot..

    I'd like to grow Carrots and Red Onions and maybe some climbing French Beans , how big do the Tenderstem Broccoli can get as we love broccoli but a standard type would take up too much space i think... I’m trying to utilise the small space as much as i can but grow what we like to eat...

    I think most broccoli plants are pretty big - the fact that "tenderstem" varieties have slender sprouts just means there are a lot per plant, compared to the single large head of a calabrese-type broccoli.

    You might want to try broccoli raab - a type of turnip that grows flower stems similar to tenderstem broccoli. It grows quickly too!

      I was about to suggest cima di rapa but then realised it's the same thing as broccoli raab! (aka rapini) I plan to try this for the first time this year, seem to remember it prefers being planted after midsummer?
      Warning: I have a dangerous tendency to act like I know what I'm talking about.
